NOW HIRING: General Manager- Machine House Brewery Central District Taproom
We are seeking an exceptional General Manager who brings restaurant, bar and cellar experience to the Machine House Brewery team. This person would be an integral part of launching this new venture, responsible for overseeing both the kitchen and bar operations. We are seeking someone who can bring enthusiasm for cask ales while maintaining a welcoming space for the community to gather. Ability to manage a team of cooks, bartenders and servers, while also holding a willingness to learn our methods and maintain great attention to detail, is essential. To best assist Machine House in the opening of this taproom, the ideal candidate will have experience of the process of opening bars or restaurants in the past.
Machine House first opened its doors in the Georgetown neighborhood 2013, and has since gained a reputation for brewing excellent British-style cask ales. Machine House is expanding to open a new taproom in the Central District in early June, with an increased selection of beers, wine and cider plus a small and simple food menu. The Central District Taproom will be a small, cozy pub that aims to be a comfortable and welcoming place for the community, as well as an elite-level beer destination.
Include but are not limited to:
Coach, lead and develop all staff on operations, policies and procedures to foster an environment focused on exceptional customer experience
Create and manage schedules for a flexible staff
Attract, recruit, and maintain a dedicated staff
Monitor inventory and place appropriate orders for the bar and kitchen
Daily settlement and cash reports
Maintain communication with the Head Brewer and managers at the brewery in Georgetown
Learn and maintain proper handling and serving of cask ales
Must be willing to cook, serve, bus, and bartend as needed
Must be able to work a minimum of 5 days/nights per week
Strong communication and organization skills
2+ years experience in the food service and bar industries, with experience of being involved in the opening of at least one bar or restaurant preferred
High energy, multi-tasking, fun demeanor and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Knowledge of Cask Ale preferred
Understand and appreciate British culture and cynicism 😊
