LOWERCASE COLLAB: CZECH PILSNER (5%)
Czech-style Pilsner brewed in collaboration with Lowercase Brewing. Brewed with Pilsner malt and plenty of Czech Saaz hops, and open-fermented long and cool with a classic Lager strain. Cask and bottle-conditioned for several weeks for a soft malt body and smooth natural carbonation.
BONUS BREWER’S NOTES FROM LOWERCASE HEAD BREWER JOHN MARTI:
It may surprise some to learn that Pilsners from their homeland of the Czech Republic are as diverse as IPAs are here in America. There is no single blueprint as Germany may have you believe when it comes to ingredients and processes for Pilsners. We took inspiration from a brewery that is sadly no longer in existence, Kout na Šumavě…specifically, open top fermentation, heaping charges of Czech Saaz hops and caramel malts. The caramel malts may cause some German brewers to scoff as the finished beer has a pleasant almost orange-like hue to it. All of this plus the fact that lagers can only be accomplished at Machine House during Seattle’s frigid winter months makes our collaborative Czech-Style Pilsner one of the most unique and rare treats that we’ve ever given ourselves.
Available in bottle, 5L cask box, and fresh pints off the hand-pumps in our taproom.
